Legacies and Donations
LegaciesLeaving the Scout Association County of Birmingham a gift in your Will is a great way to help to ensure that we can continue our important role in helping the ongoing work we undertake with and for the young people in Birmingham. If you would like to remember the Scout Association County of Birmingham in your Will there are three main types of gifts you can make:
- Residual Gift – is the gift of part (or all) of the value of your estate after debts, liabilities and other legacies have been paid.
- Pecuniary Gift – is the sum of a particular sum of money.
- Specific Gift – is the gift of a specific item that could for example be property, furniture, a painting or a piece of jewellery.
If you would like to leave a gift to the Scout Association County of Birmingham, the following wording may be helpful when you consult with your legal advisor:
number 524566, Centenary House, 89 – 91 Hatchett Street, Newtown, Birmingham B19 3NY, for its general charitable purposes and I direct that the receipt from the County Secretary or other duly authorised officer shall be a valid and appropriate form of discharge.
If you have already made a Will and decide that you would like to add a gift the Scout Association County of Birmingham, the following wording for a codicil may be helpful when discussing the matter with your legal advisor: I (your name) of (address) declare this to be my first codicil to my last Will dated (date). I give (details of legacy) to the Scout Association County of Birmingham registered charity number 524566, Centenary House, 89 – 91 Hatchett Street, Newtown, Birmingham B19 3NY, for its general charitable purposes and I direct that the receipt from the County Secretary or other duly authorised officer shall be a valid and appropriate form of discharge. In all other respects I confirm my Will.
