What is Network
Network is the fifth and final training section of Scouting, for those aged 18-25. The program involves a mix of activities from traditional scouting skills to more modern adventurous activities and social elements. From joint events with local Networks, to national camps, and beyond to international expeditions. Members don't get badges like the younger sections, and instead work towards the highest awards available in Scouting (click the links below for more details):- The Queen's Scout Award, running alongside the Gold Duke of Edinburgh's award and seen by many as the pinnacle of a Scouting life. Click here for more information.
- The Explorer Belt, an international expedition exploring life in a foreign country away from the usual tourist areas. Click here for more information.
- The Scouts of the World Award, an internationally run award based on an adventure and a service element on a particular theme. Click here for more information.

Who are we?
Network is a County section, and as such isn't really tied to the boundaries that Districts use. Instead, a Network can, and will, exist anywhere it's required, be it as part of a Scout group or covering two entire districts. At the moment there are groups covering the following areas: Handsworth; Great Barr and Erdington; Sutton Coldfield; Castle Bromwich and Sheldon; and Selly Oak.
Although, with members over the age of 18, Network is perfectly capable of running itself, each group is looked after by a leader and there is a County Scout Network Commissioner in place to help support each Network.
What we do
Each group has their own varied program of events, but as a county we meet up a few times a year for something bigger (click links for event info).
-
1) A large scale Easter Egg hunt requiring both traditional scouting skills and modern navigational cheats. Click here to go to the Easter Egg Hunt Facebook page.
2) A summer camp incorporating the three main things that define Network: Service, Social and Adventure. Click here to go to the Summer Camp Facebook page.
3) A Monopoly run around Birmingham city centre. Click here to go the Monopoly Run Facebook page.
Beyond County events, there are a number of National events taking place throughout the year open to anyone in Network (and occasionally beyond), handily these have been added the the Scout Network Map on facebook, please click here for more details.
Resources
Membership of Network is a bit more complicated than other sections, as a lot of members will also be leaders elsewhere and so are officially recorded as such. To attempt to save some confusion along the line there is a membership form to be filled in for all members each year. Membership fees are determined by each individual group.
The membership form can be downloaded here.
Over time, there will be some documents put together to help Network run more smoothly, watch this space.
