New Appointments

We are pleased to announce three new appointments to the County and the Rea Valley District teams.

Following a recent search, we are delighted that Daisy Kelly has accepted the position of County Youth Commissioner and Kate Broadbent has accepted the role of Deputy County Youth Commissioner.

Daisy moved to Birmingham from Bedford where she started her Scouting. She studies in Birmingham and is a Leader at the 108th Birmingham Scout Group in Rea Valley. Daisy is looking forward to taking on the challenge of the CYC role focusing on youth engagement and also bringing adults on the youth involvement journey.

Kate has been DYC for Spitfire for over three years and she is a member of the 144th Birmingham Scout Group where she has been a Beaver, Cub, Scout and Explorer with the Engima Unit. In her new role, Kate will be providing Youth Shaped support to the County Cub team assisting with programmes and events, bringing her enthusiasm and organisational skills to help this team, and supporting Daisy in her CYC role.

We would like to thank Jamie and Amy Burrell who have now finished their terms as County Youth Commissioners. Taking on the role just before the start of the Covid restrictions, certainly provided many challenges for them, but Jamie and Amy worked tirelessly to promote youth engagement within Scouting. Good luck to them both in their current and future Scouting roles.

We are also delighted to announce the appointment of Liz Curnew as the Local Training Manager ( LTM ) for Rea Valley. Liz has been involved in the District for over five years in Beavers and Cubs at the 238th Birmingham Scout Group (Northfield Methodist). Liz is looking forward to meeting members of the District and advising on all things training with the leader teams.

Please join with me in wishing Daisy, Kate and Liz huge success in their new roles and do say hello to them as they are out and about in the County.

Steve Thomas
County Commissioner
