At Birmingham Scouts, we believe that everyone deserves a place to belong.
As Scouts launches its new nine-year strategy, A Place to Belong, we are committed to making this vision a reality across every Group, District and activity in Birmingham. We want every young person and every adult volunteer to feel welcomed, valued, respected and empowered to be themselves.
Belonging means more than simply being a member. It means knowing that your voice matters, your differences are celebrated, and your contribution makes our movement stronger. Whether you’re joining Scouts for the very first time, returning after many years, or volunteering in a new role, there is a place for you here.
Birmingham is one of the UK’s most vibrant and diverse cities, and our Scouts should reflect the communities we serve. We are committed to creating inclusive environments where barriers are removed, opportunities are open to everyone, and every individual can thrive regardless of their background, culture, faith, ethnicity, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, socio-economic circumstances or life experiences.
Over the coming years, we will continue to:
- Create welcoming and inclusive Scout spaces where everyone feels safe, respected and supported.
- Listen to young people and volunteers, ensuring their voices help shape our future.
- Champion equality, diversity and inclusion in everything we do.
- Provide opportunities for every young person to gain skills for life and reach their full potential.
- Support volunteers with the training, resources and encouragement they need to create great experiences for all.
- Celebrate the diversity, achievements and stories of our members across Birmingham.
Belonging starts with each of us. A warm welcome, an invitation to join in, taking time to listen, celebrating different perspectives and challenging barriers all help to create stronger Scout communities.
Together, we will build a County where everyone can grow, contribute and feel proud to call Birmingham Scouts their home.
